Official Launch of Pelham’s Food Scraps Recycling Program

April 10, 2021 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

We are excited to announce the OFFICIAL launch of Pelham’s Food Scrap Recycling Program. All are welcome to join us for the official kickoff of the site:

Saturday, April 10th at 11:00am at the Food Scrap Drop-Off site located in Parking Lot 7 (north of the Village of Pelham DPW yard, behind Rockwell’s – enter from Sparks Avenue).

Joining us will be Westchester County Executive George Latimer, New York State Assemblywoman Amy Paulin, leadership from both villages, and those who made this possible: EcoPel, Sustainability Advisory Board, and the Climate Smart Communities Task Force who have spent months working closely with Deputy Village Clerk Cara Farrell and Trustee Hanan Kamal Eldahry.

“Starter kits” will be available for $21 each. The kits include a countertop pail, a transportation bin, and a roll of compostable bags. To purchase a starter kit online, residents from both villages may pay via PayPal through the Village of Pelham website. Or residents can send an email to foodscraps@pelhamgov.com or arrange for payment by check (NO CASH) and pickup. Village of Pelham Manor residents can also sign up by emailing foodscraps@pelhammanor.org to arrange for payment and pickup. You can also purchase kits in front of the Pelham Village Hall at 195 Sparks Ave. on Friday, April 9 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. and at the launch event on Saturday.

EcoPel helped get food scrap recycling off the ground in the Pelhams with a $3,900 startup grant. Please help EcoPel support other local environmental initiatives by making a donation now.
